About the Program
We have two unique opportunities for interested learners to broaden their knowledge-base in fiber and fiber optic fusion splicing via interactive workshops. Both workshops are free, designed to equip participants with critical skills, and are led by experts in collaboration with AWS, Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, and local education and training organizations.
2-Day Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing Workshop:
This immersive, two-day workshop offers participants in-depth training in fiber optic installation, repair, and fusion splicing using cutting-edge technology. Attendees will also have the chance to connect with local employers in the fiber optic industry, potentially opening doors to career opportunities. This workshop is most suitable for job-ready individuals 18 years and older seeking technical knowledge and career pathways in fiber optics.
Fusion Splicing Micro Course (4-Hour Workshop):
This interactive 4-hour workshop introduces learners to fiber optics and fiber optic fusion splicing through guided, hands-on activities. It is suitable for a variety of audiences including but not limited to:
- Advisors and those who support career and academic exploration for K-12 and adult learners
- Learners 16 years of age and older who are exploring potential trades programs and infrastructure careers
- Educators and administrators interested in learning more about fiber optics and fiber optic fusion splicing
